food and holiday-themed beads!
Hi everyone!I'm still preparing for the Big Bead Show (OMG - it's almost here!!!!) and I thought the Cupcake Queen (as I've been dubbed by the community) should probably have, you know, CUPCAKES for sale! I made a few up yesterday in various styles and sizes. I just love cupcakes! (Speaking of which: I may have bought a cupcake salt and pepper set and a cupcake tote bag the other day. The boy wanted to know why I needed the salt and pepper shakers since I already have some gorgeous purple Fiestaware ones. I shook my head sadly and told him that he would never understand. It's all about THEMES, people!! When I have a tea party and use all my cupcake things, how awesome will it be to have salt and pepper shakers, too?!? Of course now I have to find an excuse to cook food that requires salt and pepper for a tea party.. hmm..!)
And why stop at cupcakes? I've tried my hand at pancakes and eggs before but I hadn't quite had the nerve to try a coffee cup. HA! It's a teeny bit wonky, but I am VERY pleased with my first attempt! I see more of these in the near future.. maybe with some bacon and a glass of juice!
Earring pairs tend to be very popular at the show so I've been making lots of them. Here are some micro owls, bats, zombie bears, snowgirls and Rudolphs. They're super mini and SOOOO much fun to make! You just can't help but giggle when you look at them :)
Here is a pair of the micro owls in my hand to show off their exceedingly teeny statures! They're only about 10-11mm tall! Teehee :)In other news: I've opened an ArtFire shop! If you haven't visited it yet, please go have a look :)

game nerd.. beads!
Hi everyone!As many of you already know, I'm a serious game nerd. I wear the title with pride and have met SO many wonderful people through gaming. Having said that, I don't actually play Worms, a game that consists of ridiculously adorable little worm armies fighting each other. However, plenty of my friends do so I decided to make a little worm bead to make them giggle ;) There is an option for your little worm army to wear halos, hence the angel worm above. I think he's SO cute!
I've also been working on lots of orders and holiday-themed beads. I added some of these to my by keiara Etsy shop so if you like what you see, go have a peek!
I can never quite resist the pictures of these beads. Whenever I do the Big Bead Show (which is coming up in October!), I always make tons of earring pairs like the ones pictured here. As a matter of fact, these pretties will be joining me at the show :) These simple designs always strike me as so elegant. .JPG)
With Christmas right around the corner (heehee), I've started in with my Christmas collection, too. This is my traditional Christmas tree focal and I really love making these. This one is currently for sale in Etsy shop along with my Snowfamily Set and my Christmas Friends set. I LOVE holiday beads!
My Twilight Tree is one of my most popular tree focals and one of my lovely customers requested that I turn it into one of my spiral ribbon necklaces. I used one of my all-time favourite ribbons and I love the way it turned out. Any weekend plans? I have students the next couple of weekends so I'm going to take some time to relax this weekend. I have a new cookie recipe that I'm dying to try out, too. I've also been debating between lemon cupcakes or my family's chocolate cupcake recipe (which is absolutely TDF!!) Knowing me, I'll probably just end up making both! I'm really glad I have a decent-sized freezer ;)

Happy Halloween! wait.. what?!
Hi everyone!
I feel the need to do a list today. I'm sort of a list addict. Hello, my name is keiara, and I'm a list-aholic. It's true. So, I make lists. Lots of lists. And then you know what I do with them? Put them down and never look at them again! Cause, you know, what's more helpful than a list you never actually look at?! Have I mentioned lately I have issues. Yeah.
So! A list:
1. It's Friday! YAYAYAYAY!!!! I'm ridiculously excited about today and have been bouncing around (and cleaning my flat) for days now! So. Much. LOVE!!!
2. My studio WILL be set up by the end of next week if it kills me (and it might)! I can't wait to get back to custom orders and making my made-to-order collection. I know so many of you have been waiting so patiently and I really appreciate it.. thank you!
3. Kaia should be back in town at the end of next week! YAYAYAY! I've missed the Munchkin tons.. even though she was with me for three weeks in March/April and then I travelled back to Florida with her. Really I just miss her all the time :( AND! She's going to be 15 in September. Ok, seriously now, may I just say.. W.. T.. F!!! Fifteen?! When the heck did this happen?? I don't remember signing any permission slips saying my daughter was allowed to, like, grow up and stuff! Someone obviously forged my signature! I'm calling.. someone! Who deals with this sort of vile criminal behaviour! THE FEDS! I just like saying 'the Feds'. Of course you don't have 'the Feds' in England. Huh. That's really sad. What do you guys say? 'The Yard'? That sounds silly. I like it! I'M CALLING THE YARD! Of course to Americans 'the yard' means the garden.. usually behind the house. And how the heck did I get from Kaia visiting to explaining what 'the yard' means? Wow. I need to lay down.
4. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Hahaha, you thought I was going to forget the whole point of this post, didn't you? It's ok. It wouldn't be the first time. *shifty eyes* So! As many of you know, I am a little compulsive (that seems to be a theme here, lately.. ahem) about holiday beads and I generally start making them realllllllllllly far in advance of the holiday. But! I think it's good to give my customers enough time to see the beads, buy the beads (please!) and make a holiday-themed piece of jewellery AND sell it prior to the holiday. Hence why I always start so early. Usually I start Halloween beads in July so, guess what? It's Halloween bead time! I absolutely LOVE making Halloween beads as it gives me an excuse (like I need one!) to make all the zombies, ghosts, witches, cauldrons, etc. that I want :) Watch this space for lots of Halloween glassy goodies in the near future :)
5. Apparently I like to make a liar out of myself. I'm sure I'm not alone here. On the heels of saying that I rarely eat any of the sweets I buy, I sat down last night with a pint of Phish Food (mmmm) and, after sticking it in the microwave for 30 seconds (what, you don't do that??), I proceeded to eat HALF THE PINT. OMG. Needless to say I felt slightly sick afterwards but, hey, that's ok. Luckily I have a whole, new pint in there as well. I get a little glassy-eyed just thinking about it. *drool*
Ok.. I think that covers all the stuff I wanted to discuss today. I think. Maybe. Who knows? I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I know I will!!!

Like, I want you to come to counseling with me so that the counselor and I can both tell you how very wrongity wrong wrong wrong you are! Or maybe that's just me. *cough*

so much new stuff.. where do I begin?!
Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful, spooktacular Halloween! As you can see, my Halloween dreads DID arrive in time! WOOT! Naomi installed them and they really looked great :) These are synthetic hair dreads and they are SO much heavier than the wonderfully light wool I'm used to though! Still, I think they looked very festive :)
I've done a HUUUUGE update to my shop as well! I've added many new categories including: Ready To Go - Beads! This category contains all the beads that are already made and just waiting to go home with you :) Many of these will be availabe as made to order too so if you see something you like but want it in a different colour, just contact me and I'll be happy to create a lovely bead to your specifications.
I've also added a new Key Focal category! I know many of you were really diggin' the keys at the show so I've given them their very own category ;) I've also added an option to turn a key into a ribbon necklace!
Last, but not least, I also added a new Ready To Go - Jewellery! category. This category contains jewellery that's ready and waiting to adorn your ears, wrists and neck :) In other news: I've adopted four baby guinea piggies! Pictures to come soon :) They are so sweet and adorable! This morning I had all four eating carrots out of my hands.. it was heaven!
How about you guys? Anything interesting happen over the Halloween weekend? Anything fun planned for the week? I'm busybusybusy but that's a good thing!

Happy Monday!
Hi guys! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I got into a bracelet-making mood and here are two of my favourites from Saturday :) Above is Candy Corn Halloween bracelet (candy corn, for all my British friends, is a quintessential American candy that is practically mandatory at any Halloween gathering - interesting side note: I can't stand the stuff but it IS really cute!) I created this bracelet with three of my handmade candy corn lampwork beads and gorgeous felt beads from Debbie. Her felt beads are FANTASTIC! Well, everything she does is fantastic ;) The beads are beautifully formed, light and easy to string. I really enjoyed working with them and I will definitely be making more felt bead jewellery!
Next up is Jester Halloween bracelet. All my Halloween jewellery this year is black, lime green and purple to match my new synthetic dreads (which I've just been told have not shipped yet even though I received an email last week saying they were going out Special Delivery.. PANIC MODE ON!) *cough* I'm going to be optimistic and believe they WILL arrive in the next couple of days. Anyway! This bracelet is all Debbie's felted beads with simple Sterling silver spacers. I am so in love with these beads! Comfy, cute and handmade by a darling friend. What more could you ask for?!I'll have to do another post later this week showing off all my Halloween jewellery. I REALLY spoiled myself (if I may say) but I think I deserved it after all my hard work for the show last weekend ;) In the meantime, I'm off to bake Halloween cupcakes.. MMM!

I LOVE MY FRIENDS!
Yes, I do. Why? Because my friends send me awesomely cool Halloween stuff like this!!! This is a big reason why I love what I do so much. I mean, it's great and fun and wonderful all by itself PLUS I get to meet lots of other amazing artists who make lots of ridiculously cool stuff! Case in point: the above picture. My fabulous friend, Laura, made me these fantastic Halloween-themed brooches (am I the only one who always wants to say 'broach'?!) and the adorable card too. The Nightmare Before Christmas brooches are actually from last year but, hey, they deserved to have their pictures taken too! How awesome are these?! I LOVE them. To say that my jaw dropped when I saw the Dia de los Muertos (sugar) skull is an understatement. And how freaking cool is the Oogie Boogie?!? *swoon*
Not only did Laura send me an awesome package today.. but so did Debbie! I've talked about Debbie loads of times before. She's my go-to girl for felt jewellery, beads and her own handmade dolls and trolls too. Her work is incredible! I asked her if she could make me a pair of Halloween bracelets with some embroidery. This is what she came up with!! The lime green bracelet has fantastic, delicate embroidery featuring spiders and the black bracelet has sparkly stars (which don't show in the pic) and an AMAZING black cat face charm! This picture SOOOO doesn't do these bracelets justice. They are just phenomenal! I'm so in love with them :)I've officially decorated my house for Halloween (pictures soon) and I'm planning a Halloween-themed dinner party! OooOoOOo! I can't wait :) Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. OH! I've also ordered some gorgeous black, lime green and purple synthetic dreads! I hope they arrive soon.. I can't wait to see what they look like installed (pics of that to follow too).
I have all my Halloween jewellery sorted including a button jewellery set from Collette at Noodlefish, a ribbon jewellery set from Mel at Poor Robin and these wonderful felt bracelets from Debbie of Wychburydoll. I suppose I should probably at least wear ONE of my own creations too, huh? Spooky Skulls bracelet it is, then!
How about you guys? Anything fun planned for Halloween? Trick-or-treating? Dressing up? I'll be baking up a bunch of ultra spooky cupcakes for hubby's office (as I do every year) and I have some GREAT ideas! I hope they turn out as cool as I'm envisioning ;)

Halloween Giveaway!
Happy October everyone! October is one of my favourite months because it ends with HALLOWEEN! YAY! I love Halloween and everything that goes along with it. I decorate the house, make spooky cupcakes, dress up and hand out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. So, in honour of one of my favourite holidays, I'll be giving away a Spooky Skull focal! mini ghost kitties, cupcakes & keys!
Hiya guys! I had a custom order for some mini ghost kitties earring pair. What do you think? I'm very pleased with how they turned out! It's soooo much harder to do the detail on these little guys but I think they look great :) I hope my lovely customer likes them!.jpg)
I'm also building up my cupcake stock for The Big Bead Show. I mean, the Cupcake Queen can't very well go to the show without cupcakes! These are my Sweet Cupcakes and are the very first cupcake design I ever created :) Aren't they sweet? heehee. I'm hoping my sculptural work will go down well at the show. Keep your fingers crossed for me!.jpg)
No torch session would be complete without a couple keys! This is Unlock Cosmic Stone key focal. It is SO hard to photograph the mother-of-pearl effect in this bead. There are hints of purple/aqua iridescence in the dots. It looks really interesting!.jpg)
And this is Unlock Pretty Golden Swirl (yeah, I'm so creative with the names sometimes..) which features sparkling goldstone on soft pink. It's hard to tell but this is shaped into one of my organic gems and I like the overall effect. Feminine design meets organic shape is always interesting to me. It's nature vs. nurture represented in a bead; the unpredictability of nature surrounding the imposed female ideal displayed on an antique key. Of course the key itself has so many meanings: unlocking the dichotomy of what it means to be a woman in this time, requiring a key to open doors that were previously shut to us, unlocking our true potential and shrugging off objectification. Of course it's also a pretty bead too ;)Do you find yourself incorporating or finding deeper meaning in your art and life? Do you have a cause especially close to your heart?
Just thought I'd share those thoughts!
